According to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI), the price of wood pellets fell slightly in August. A ton costs an average of €403.63. This is 4.5% less than in July. The price is around 41% and thus still well below the previous year's level. The price level, which is nevertheless high for the time of year, is influenced by the increased price for sawdust.
The regional differences in the price of pellets in August 2023 are as follows (sales of 6 t): In southern Germany, pellets cost an average of €397.93/t, closely followed by the center of the republic at €403.82/t. In northern and eastern Germany, pellets are slightly more expensive at €423.18/t. The fact that the national average value in August is below the value of the regional prices is based on the calculation method.
Larger quantities (26 t) will be traded in August 2023 at the following conditions: South: €382.90/t, Central: €386.52/t, North/East: €400.55/t.
