Germany: Beech log price index almost completely increasing

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for beech logs mostly developed strongly upwards in May 2022. On average, they increased by 1.3% to 107.5 points. B grade gained 1.9% month-on-month to stand at 114.1 points. The index for 3 m lengths increased by 1% to 108.3 points, while that for 5 m lengths increased by 2.9% to 115.4 points.

C ranges rose 0.5% in May to a level of 103.2 points. 3 m lengths increased by 2.2% to 103.8 points, 5 m lengths decreased by 0.5% to 96.1 points. B/C ranges recorded an increase of 2% to 110.4 points.

Alternativtext Beech pulpwood recorded an increase of 0.5% to 107 points in May. Oak pulpwood increased by 5.6% to 98.3 points. The hardwood pulpwood price index increased by 1.3% to 105.7 points.

Year-on-year, the beech log index was up 6.3% compared the same month. B grades gained 8% from May 2021 with 6.6% at 3m lengths and 9.1% at 5m lengths. C ranges increased by 4.6%. 3m lengths gained 8%, 5m lengths decreased 2.9%. B/C ranges increased by 8%. Industrial quality recorded an increase of 12.3%.
