More than 350,000 tons of timber was sold to China in January-May alone, almost three times more as compared to last year, with exports reaching nearly 1.1 billion kronor (about $48 million).

According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, this year China became the second largest Czech timber export destination after Germany.

It seems that Czech timber exporters are satisfied with the trade with China, and the Czech Forestry Bureau also said that the Chinese market has a large demand and a broad prospect for cooperation.

The Czech Ministry of Agriculture said earlier this year that in order to cope with the excessive timber harvest caused by the bark beetle infestation, it hopes to expand timber exports, including exports to China.
