The price for wood pellets in Germany rose slightly in October. According to the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV), a ton costs € 227.36 for a purchase of 6 tons. That is 1.8% more than in September and 8% less than last year.

“The pellet price is atypically low for the beginning of the cold season,” explains DEPV managing director Martin Bentele.

For 2020, production in Germany is expected to increase again to a record level of 3 million t, which would make it the second largest manufacturer of wood pellets worldwide after the USA, ahead of Canada.

The following regional differences arise in the price of wood pellets in October 2020 (purchase quantity 6 t): In southern Germany, pellets are cheapest at € 225.17 / t, followed by central Germany, where the price has risen to € 226.97 / t. In northern / eastern Germany it is € 231.88 / t.

Larger quantities (26 t) will be traded in October 2020 at the following conditions: south: 210.56 € / t, center: 212.49 € / t, north / east: 217.31 € / t (all including VAT) .
