Finland: logging volume came up to 5.8 million m3 in August

In August, 5.8 million m³ of roundwood was harvested for use by the forest industries in Finland. This harvested timber volume was 28% up against the ten-year August average, says Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) in its monthly statistics report. 

Out of the total harvested Finnish roundwood volume, sawlogs accounted for 2.6 million m³ and pulpwood for 3.3 million m³. Industrial roundwood logging volume from forests in non-industrial private ownership came up to 4.3 million m³.

Finnish forest industry companies and the state harvested 1.5 million m³ of roundwood from their forests.

As of 2017, the volume of roundwood destined for energy production is included in the monthly statistics. In August, 365,000 cubic metres of wood was harvested for the use of energy production.
